What is creative brand coaching? Branding involves the physical (product or service), emotional (heart), mental (mind) and spiritual (values and mission). Branding is an exercise that explores not only what you do and what you want to achieve but it also opens up the underlying purpose and drive of your business. Every business is unique and creative brand coaching seeks to find that unique identity and offering. Making your uniqueness explicit is what branding is about. Your uniqueness also contains the values and mission or set of guiding principles and goals that are meaningful to the business and to the people that seek out its services or products. Once your brand has been recognised and made more conscious then all the various activites, including the marketing are aligned to the brand making your business more congruent visible and effective.

Why is it important to know your brand? How your business or product is branded, will play an integral role in its success or failure. A brand is not just a logo, nor is it simply an aspect of your marketing strategy. It represents your business ethics, personality, values and tone of your business. It helps you to stand out and creates clarity in your market so that people are clear about your offering. This creates customer loyalty and market positioning.Unfortunately many businesses have no idea about their core brand. It is very common that clients find it hard to articulate the values goals and mission of their business. I am not talking about an intellectual exercise here but one that makes a client shout "yes, that's it!" When this happens then we know we are on the right track.

Branding is an industry that could cost you thousands of pounds. And I should know, a few months ago a current client called in a branding expert to look at branding their business and was quoted nearly £10k for a process that would last several months. Although they respected this person's experience and credentials they had to decline. Now I am not in the business of charging you thousands of pounds. i am in the business of getting you where you want to go as quickly as possible and therefore as inexpensively as possible.

Branding is a magical affair. Discovering your brand is not just a physical exercise it is a magical exercise and what I mean by this is that it if your brand is correctly aligned with the essence of what you do and what you want to acheive then it will start to work magically in the marketplace and attract new clients to your business. A great brand will also attract great customer loyalty over the many years your business will trade in the marketplace. So as you can see I am speaking a little differently than most branding agencies you will come across. If you search around on the Internet you will find that some tend to be very left brained and will seek to take you through all kinds of questionaires and analysis procedures. Others are very right brained and are more graphic design agencies who will give you a nice looking logo and website that will hopefully work for you. I am offering you something different.

Branding is ideal for a new start-up venture. Of course branding can be done at any stage of your business development but the best time to address branding is at the beginning. You may have a good idea about your brand but if it is not exact it will be like sailing from London to New York and being a couple of degrees off course. Then you could end up in Florida which is not where you intended to be. I specialise in working with small new businesses and I help them find the right brand that will energise their business and get them moving quickly in the marketplace.

Perhaps now is a good time to consider a conscious re-brand? In the lifetime of any business there is always change. Markets change, attitudes change, options change, the original purpose of the company may not fit exactly who you are and where you are going anymore. Sometimes re-branding is necessary after a merger, sometimes it is necessary after a company seperates different aspects of itself into distinct units. There may be many reasons why a conscious re-brand is the right choice to make.

Once the brand is right the marketing follows. When the brand is aligned with your authentic business idfentity and mission then the marketing of that is much easier. The brand has to be communicated congruently by everyone inside your business to everyone outside of your business. There is a cascading effect from the brand down to all levels of communication. If the brand is completely aligned with who you are then people will just get it instantly, there is no confusion. When the essence of the brand has been identified then you move into the look and feel stage. This will impact on how your website is designed, what logo you choose, and how all your marketing material looks like.
